  • Diego On a Dime (www.diegoonadime.com)

Diego on a Dime began as an ode to those recently laid-off during this recession-crazy year, to show them how to still live rich without breaking the bank in San Diego. Now, money-savvy locals and travelers have found DiegoOnaDime.com as a tool for smart spending. The blog is jam-packed with free or almost free things to do in the county. Topics include how to snag majorly discounted theatre tickets, where to watch a movie for free or less than $6, donation-only bootcamps and yoga classes, free events for the upcoming weekend, free museums, and free or cheap eats. By maximizing all the FREE or ALMOST FREE things to do in San Diego, you'll have more leftover to spend large on something else.

This site is so useful! It tells me the free/cheap places to go in town. Every Thursday I can check it to see what free things are happening on the weekend. There are also contests where they give away free tickets to events if you can guess hidden pictures around San Diego. Their Twitter account notifies me of last minute deals that no one knows about. Very cool!
